NYC's Most Creative Artisanal Cake Doughnuts

Knowing just how limited Manhattan retail space is, chef Scott Levine decided to open his artisanal donut business inside another business—a car wash. It’s the Russian nesting doll approach to entrepreneurship—only these dolls are actually decadent donuts tossed in festive sugars and drizzled with creative icings. Scott Levine’s freshly fried old-school cake donuts are giving a city of subway riders a very delicious reason to visit the 70-year-old car wash, adding a homegrown Americana vibe usually reserved for Brooklyn’s oyster saloons and locavore-style diners. Past the aisles of pine scented car fresheners and antifreeze, you’ll find colorful cake donuts that are freshly fried on-site everyday.

We had a feeling the cars in Manhattan have been looking a little cleaner lately…

We're not the only ones who love them!

Underwest Donuts was featured on The Today Show as one of Hoda Kotb's favorite donuts, as well as ABC's World News Now, Eater, Gothamist and New York Magazine. The Village Voice named them "One of the Best Dishes in the City".
