West Virginia Pepperoni Rolls
Nonna's Bakery
Ever since my buddy and West Virginia native Dave McClure told me about this amazing concoction we were on a hunt to find the best Pepperoni Rolls in the land. Morgantown is were we found em! Heat em up, soften that roll, let the pepp get sweaty and salty. Dip em in warm marinara and BOOM -- you are pepperoni rollin!

“Nonna” means “grandmother” in Italian, and more than a few of the recipes at Nonna’s Bakery & Deli are straight out of the kitchen of owner Sandy LeDonne’s nonna: lasagna, fettuccine alfredo, ravioli, and a range of pastas. But the dish for which Nonna’s Bakery & Deli is most famous is the pepperoni rolls. Created in the 1920s as the perfect, portable lunch for the rugged Appalachian coal miners, the pepperoni roll is slices of spicy pepperoni rolled and baked into layers of soft bread, infusing the dough with its delicious, spicy oil. Containing no preservatives and no artificial ingredients, this original recipe is made from scratch, fresh from the oven, from her family to yours.

We're not the only ones who love them!

Nonna's Pepperoni Rolls are a favorite of West Virginia University grads near and far!
