Limanjar Dulcería

Peruvian Alfajores from NYC
Limanjar Dulcería
There may be many black and white cookies out there but the black & white alfajores are 2nd to none in my book. Sweet yet not too sweet, decadent and light. This may not be the traditional black & white cookie but it has set a new bar for all of them!
David Ariel - The Long Distance Eater

Alfajores (ahl-fah-HOH-rehs) n. Spanish for the best cookie you’ve never heard of. These not-quite-shortbread cookies are loaded with not-quite-caramel filling to create this traditional South American cookie that is making its debut in the US thanks to the Peruvian duo behind New York’s Limanjar Dulcería. Realizing that the best way to share their stories and culture in America is through food, Alvaro and Joaquin began baking these traditional soft butter cookies filled with manjar blanco (a sweet caramel-like custard) from scratch using recipes from home.
