We had high hopes for Janie's Cakes after hearing Oprah's testimonial and it completely lived up to the hype! Topped and filled with cream comparing this to ordinary pound cakes isn't even a fair contest! Hands down, the best pound cake in the country!

It all started with “Papu.” Janie’s Cakes founder Janie Clapp learned the art of baking from her great-grandmother, known to the family as “Papu,” who did very little measuring, instead operating on a whole lot of instinct. While that worked well for her great-grandmother, Janie decided to further her education in a more formal manner by attending the Culinary Institute of America in New York, before the pull of home in Tyler, Texas was too strong to resist. Janie decided to open a bakery that was soon known all over town, but it didn’t take long before word spread nationwide about their house speciality: the pound cake Using real deal ingredients- farm-fresh eggs, creamery butter, pure cane sugar and absolutely no preservatives- Janie’s is continuing the produce what many, including Oprah, believe to be the best pound cake in the country.
