Frisbie Pies from Connecticut

Live free and PIE HARD. Next time you toss a frisbee at a beach or picnic, you can feast on the flaky, fruity pies that spawned this great American pastime. After starting with homemade pies in 1871, William Frisbie’s Frisbie Pie Company was delivering more than 50,000 fresh orders per day around New England by the 1920s. During breaks, employees would fling and catch the metal pie tins, yelling “Frisbie” to warn of one in midair. Once Wham-O started selling plastic “Frisbees” inspired by the tins, this humble game became an iconic piece of American history!
