New York City has long had its society restaurants, but Harry Cipriani is unique in that it is the centerpiece of a family empire, one that traces its beginnings to the founding of Harry’s Bar in Venice in 1931, the birthplace of the Bellini cocktail. The original Cipriani Bellini Mix (nectar of white peaches) from the cocktail’s place of origin, includes original recipes from Harry’s Bar. Because of its unique pink color, which reminded Cipriani of the color of the toga of a saint in a painting by 15th-century Venetian artist Giovanni Bellini, he named the drink the Bellini.
We're not the only ones who love them!
Bellini's started as a seasonal specialty at Harry's Bar (Venice), a favorite haunt of Ernest Hemingway, Sinclair Lewis and Orson Welles. Cipriani has been featured in the NY Times and on Food Network.
