Detroit Style Pizza's cheesy, crispy crust is just the sort of thing that makes me think I could eat pizza for every meal from here to eternity and still be hungry for more. While getting overlooked by NY'ers and Chicagoans alike, The Motor City is quietly pumping out some of the best slices around!

Detroit has brought us a lot of beautiful things over the years—Motown, iconic cars, Tom Selleck… so when they say they’ve got a style of pizza that’s as good as New York or Chicago, we felt we at least owed the city a bite… which quickly turned into a slice… and then the whole dang pizza. True to Detroit tradition, these pizzas all come down to the dough, which is soft and airy on the inside, yet crispy on the outside courtesy of the blue steel pans in which they are baked. As the pizza bakes in these seasoned pans once used by mechanics on the assembly line, the outer edges of the layer of cheese begins to caramelize, forming a delicious golden brown cheese barrier around the perimeter of the pie (also known as the eighth wonder of the world.)

Detroit Style Pizza owner Shawn Randazzo won the title of World Champion Pizza Maker in 2012 at the International Pizza Expo, which also saw his Tangy BBQ Chicken and Bacon Pizza crowned Best Pizza.
